Pakistan Television (PTV) entertained millions of viewers in Pakistan all alone from 1964 to 1990. It was PTV who created classic dramas, shows, music & much much more. PTV change the shape of entertainment in Pakistan forever. PTV dramas literally emptied the roads of Pakistan. From historical to classic, from fictional to non-fictional, from serious to comedy, PTV dramas still reminds us that this is a real drama. Although in this age of cable & satellite channels when we have more than 100 channels on our TV who are transmitting 24/7, there was a time when entire Pakistan would switch on its TV from 8pm to 9pm to watch a PTV drama. We still remember those characters that made us laugh, cry & ran a chill in our spine. Those characters became our family members & they entertained us very well.
On November 26th 1964, Pakistan Television (PTV) started its transmission in Pakistan & still growing stronger. Regardless of being a government department, PTV produced the best work in country that is unmatched by any other government department. On November 26th 2006, as PTV turned 40 years old, a show was telecast about PTV's history. It was written by Anwar Maqsood & hosted by Moin Akhtar. In this show, some rare seen footage was telecast about PTV & classic Black & White clips from 60s to the late 90s.
In this 1st part, you can see how the technical facilities were setup for the transmission. Remember in 1965, Indo-Pak war started & PTV raise the spirit of nation thru patriotic songs sung By Noor Jahan, Mehdi Hasan & many other singers. At that time, Ayub Khan was president of Pakistan.

Director: Rashid Dar | Writer: Munnu Bhai
Cast: Sheba Arshad, Hamid Rana, Ghayyur Akhtar, Ayub Khan, Tashqeen, Munir Zareef & Jamil Fakhari
Another classic from the golden age of dramas on PTV, this play is about a couple who leave their village and come out to the city so they can pay off their parents debt back home. They work in several homes and change the lives of these people forever. It is both hilarious and inspiring. The characters are so simple and naive that you can't help falling in love with them and after the first few houses that the couple visit, you will become addicted to this play. The play gets funnier as it progresses.
Now this is what you call classic. This drama directed by Rashid Dar and written by Munnu Bhai was a career boast for a lot of actors. The whole drama is revolves around two characters Sona and Chandi who come to a big city to find their fortune. They go through a lot and this is how it goes..........

Drama - Aangan Tehra
Cast - Bushra Ansari, Shakeel, Salim Nasir,
Arshad Mahmood, Durdana Butt, Latif Kapadia
Directed - Qaiser Farooq
Written - Anwar Maqsood
The story revolves around a servant, Akbar (Salim Nasir), previously a classical dancer, working at the house of a retired civil servant Mehboob Ahmed (Shakeel) and his wife Jehan Ara Begum (Bushra Ansari). Mehboob Ahmed regularly seeks Akbar's advice on different matters, often with hilarious results. Arshad Mehmood playing the role of Chaudhry Sahib (Mehboob Ahmed's neighbor) is one of the trump cards of the play. His typical chaudhry accent and the way Akbar tries to imitate him is a source of much amusement. A host of prominent guest stars such as Moin Akhtar, Film star Lehri, Alamgir, Subhani Younus & Anwar Maqsood also add to the appeal of the play. Although there is so much on offer, the highlight of the serial without doubt is Jehan Ara's ranter- the interactions that take place between Jehan Ara & Akbar with Mehboob Ahmed acting as a biased (towards Akbar) mediator between the two- one will want to watch these scenes over & over again.
